The fire, which has burned more than 320,000 is actively burning north of Bell, Mt Wilson, Mt Irvine, Mt Tootie/Itchenstoke, Bilpin, Mountain Lagoon, Kurrajong, Upper Colo and the Colo River. It is burning west of St Albans Road, Wollombi Road, and the Great North Road between Webbs Creek in the south to Bucketty in the north.
It also continued to burn east of Newnes and Glen Alice.
Centennial spokesperson Katie Brassil stated on Wednesday that the fire had had no impacts on production at the Clarence and Springvale mine sites. There was surface infrastructure on the Newnes Plateau, which was not currently under threat. Ventilation in the underground mines in the western area of the state had not been affected.
Lithgow's fire danger rating remains very high on Thursday and communities near the fire's fronts, including Bell, have been asked to have their bushfire survival plans in place and be ready to leave.
Road closures remain in place at: Wheelbarrow Ridge Road is closed between Putty and Greens Road.; Putty Road is closed between Colo Riverside Cafe and Milbrodale Road; Comleroy Road is closed at Warrigal Road, Kurrajong; Drift State Mine Gully Road is closed; Old Bells Line of Road / Clarence Road is closed; Blackfellows Hands Trail is closed.
Smoke continues to fill the Lithgow Valley, which has necessitated the cancellation of two school carols concerts this week, one at Lithgow Public School on Tuesday and another which was to have been held on Thursday night at Zig Zag Public School. Sporting events including touch football have been cancelled around the region.
Vulnerable people, those will lung conditions, the elderly or young, have been urged to take care in the conditions. Exercise outdoors has been discouraged.
