Championship Fours
Early rounds of Championship Fours have been held over the last two weeks and three teams have progressed towards the Semi Final stage.
Athol Roach, Stan Campbell, Kevin Shorney and Michael Johnson easily accounted for their opposition, Darryl Wright, Richie Bilby, Bob Kiernam and Kerry Clarke 24 shots to 8 to advance.
Les Barnes, Joe Banasiak, Wayne Allan and Ray Sharwood proved too good on the day for Ian Townsend, Col Wotton, Jim Baunerman and Graeme Pitt, winning 23 shots to 13.
A big win was recorded by Gil Meudosa, Garry Bender, Gary Sutherland and Jeff Madden, 38 shots to 5, over John Perry, Ian Northey, Al Case and Scott Simmons.
Madden's "left handers" have been broken up with the inclusion of solid lead player Gil Meudosa, and it paid dividends.
Frank Mierczak's team of Michael Hughes, Jim Kelly and Scott van der Draay overpowered their opponents, Mick Wholohan and co to win by 29 shots to 9 and take a step towards the semis.
The JB Kelly Versatility 6-a-side Tournament was played in early November with the following results: 1st: Pam and Mike Johnson, Inga Irvine, Ted Healey, Kevin Shorney and Athol Roach. 2nd: Warren and Judy Kennedy, Davey and Ina Hunter, Gil Mendosa and Gary Sutherland. 3rd: Les and June Barnes, Bill and Ann Anderson, Gloria Davidson and Joe Banasiak.
Playing to a format of 2 triples games in the morning and three pairs games in the afternoon the contestants both enjoyed the wonderful weather and great playing surfaces at the Club.
The Club wishes to thank those who attended from other clubs and welcomes them back for future tournaments.
