The annual Lithgow Arts Trail gives residents an opportunity to peek into the private spaces of artists working across mediums, from canvas to cloth, flowers to furniture.
There will be 20 studios and work spaces open to visitors this weekend, November 2 and 3, from 10am to 4pm at Portland, Lithgow, Hartley and Kanimbla.
Artist Annie Joseph will be among those throwing open her studio, which has been converted from the old abattoir building at South Bowenfels.
The idea for the art trail was born over a cup of tea.
Annie said she and fellow artist Sarah Childs were sitting in Sarah's converted shed, now sewing emporium.
"And we thought, we've each got a studio, we know lots of people around here have studios, let's open them up and let everyone have a look," Annie said.
"I think a lot of people want to get a look at what you do and how you do it, before it ends up in a gallery."
Now in its fourth year, the artists' trail attracts visitors from Sydney, Bathurst, Orange and throughout the Blue Mountains.
