Rob Beveridge has coached over 300 games in the NBL with the West Sydney Razorbacks, Perth Wildcats and Illawara Hawks where he coached Perth to a championship in 2010. He has also worked internationally for the past 20 years and coached at two Olympics, two Commonwealth games and three World Championships.
"To have someone of his ability and standard is just incredible," Lithgow Basketball coaching director Adam Marjoram said.
Beveridge conducted two sessions for kids between 10 and 13 and another for kids aged between 14 and 17. He showed them shooting fundamentals, offensive skill sets and offensive floor spots.
"When I saw that he was doing coaching clinics for regional towns I just thought it was the perfect time to get in contact," Marjoram said.
"We have our junior Lazers trials next week, so for the kids to get in some holiday training is great."
Beveridge said the clinics had been going really well.
"They are really good kids, and it has been a rewarding experience for me to get away from professional basketball and the egos that come with it," he said.
"I feel that with regional and rural basketball the kids and their parents are really appreciative of your time which makes it all the more rewarding."
Beveridge did point out one particular player at the coaching clinic.
"There is a lot of talent here, Zeke [Evans] could be a professional, there is real talent there and he has the right body shape and from what I've seen he could have what it takes," he said.
Basketball coach Heidi Inwood said she gained a lot from the experience.
"Having basic skills training from an Australian coach just to show us the correct structure and how to shoot is amazing," she said.
"Getting a different perspective, and learning how to coach by watching how he coaches is something you don't get everyday."
