Katie Coleman was selected to attend the NSW Youth Summit on Living with Drought (UNICEF Australia) to be held in October.
At the Youth Summit, young people will come together with decision-makers to discuss the challenges they face living with drought in NSW and how responses can be improved.
The focus will be on building resilience.
Katie has had some first-hand experience of dealing with drought, hand feeding sheep during the lambing season.
"Witnessing first-hand the challenges of little feed, water, weather changes and foxes, I felt that it was very important that the Greater City of Lithgow had representation," she said.
"That is why I took the time to nominate. I am very passionate about ensuring my story is shared regarding the challenges of living with drought in this area."
Proud mum, Lithgow City Councillor Cassandra Coleman said she encouraged Katie to nominate as a big supporter of the Don't DIS my ABILITY educational campaign.
"To our delight, after a phone interview, she was selected," she said.
"Katie is constantly challenging society's stereotypes and once again has demonstrated that she has the ability and drive to represent the community she loves."
