Transport for NSW issued an alert for commuters at 7.35am on Tuesday which stated that delays were being experienced at Mount Victoria.
"Allow extra travel time due to a train requiring mechanical repairs at Mount Victoria," the alert said.
"Buses are supplementing some services, so also listen to announcements and check indicator boards."

Meanwhile, track works are being undertaken between Lithgow and Mount Victoria from Monday to Friday this week.
A separate alert from Transport NSW was issued for September 2-6 and states:
- Buses replace trains between Lithgow and Mount Victoria.
- Trains run to a changed timetable between Mount Victoria and Central.
- Bathurst trains continue to run between Bathurst and Central, to a changed timetable.
- Daily from 9.20am until 5.30pm, buses replace trains between Lithgow and Katoomba.
- Trains run between Katoomba and Central, some to a changed timetable.
