But the extra length of the course did not deter A grade handicap winner Damien Marjoram who turned some of the par fives into fours with his big hitting to return a 69 nett and take out the major voucher.
Runner-up was Andrew Burton who was counted out by Marjoram but he did take out the best scratch score with a superb 69.
Marjoram and Burton who were the only two golfers in the field to shoot nett scores in the sixties will play off for the A grade monthly next month.
Countbacks also figured in the B and C grades with the B grade winner being Geoff Thompson who has been fairly consistent in recent months.
He finished with 71 nett and count out runner up Rod Clarke. The pair plus Mark Willmott will play off for the medal next month.
Best B grade scratch score went to Brian Bourke with 84 on a countback. C grade saw Bob Charlton back in the winners list with 73 nett counting out Mick Stafford. Charlton also shot the best C grade scratch score with 92 and he and Stafford will play off for the medal next month.
The nearest to the pin awards were dominated by Blake Bender who took out three of the five awards. The other two went to Brian Judge and Justin Nelson.
Those to perform well and figure in the Ball competition were Mick Hunter, Blake Bender, Rod Bright, Jeff Geddes, Max Nightingale, Des Roots, Greg Jackson, Dean Stafford, Mark Willmott and Brian Bourke.
Balls cut out on 74 nett on a countback.
The Friday nine hole competition went to Jeff Geddes on 31 points with Dave Thompson the sole ball winner.
Next Saturday's event (September 7) will be a two ball best ball with a single event held in conjunction.
