A WOMAN who pushed a police officer in the chest as the officer tried to arrest her has been convicted for assaulting police and failing to leave a licensed premises.

Matters against Jamie-Lee Hunt, 22, of Bowenfels, were heard in Bathurst Local Court.
Police facts tendered to the court told how Hunt was stumbling around and unsteady on her feet in the Oxford Hotel at around 2.38am on Sunday, March 31. A security guard approached her due to her intoxication and requested she leave the hotel.
She was escorted to the front door, where she was given a drink of water, and remained at the front of the hotel for around 20 minutes.
Hunt was abusive and attempting to fight other women who were walking on the footpath or exiting the hotel.
Security attempted to get her to leave the vicinity of the hotel, as required due to her intoxication, but she refused. Security called police.
Police arrived at the hotel at 3.12am, spoke with security and approached Hunt, who was standing but extremely unsteady on her feet and leaning into the garden bed.
Police asked her for ID and attempted to take hold of her as she was unsteady on her feet, and also to prevent her from escaping. Hunt hit the hands and arms of the officer on no less than three occasions, according to the police facts.
Hunt then deliberately hit one officer with her right hand and arm to the upper chest area, according to the police facts.
Police took hold of Hunt and, during the arrest, they and Hunt fell to the footpath.
Hunt was handcuffed and police suffered injuries as a result of the fall, including elbow grazing.
For assaulting a police officer in the execution of their duty, without actual bodily harm, Hunt was convicted and fined $500. For being an excluded person who failed to leave a premises, she was convicted and fined $250.
