Golfers at Lithgow found the dams frozen over on Saturday morning (see video below) and creeks in the region iced up as a cold snap hit.
This weekend in particular was extremely cold reaching a low of -7 degrees and a high of just 13 degrees on the Saturday. Sunday recorded a low of -3 degrees and a high of 14.
The extreme lows are over for now.
For the rest of the week it is expected to reach an average high of 11 degrees and an average low of 2 degrees with overnight temperature falling to between 1 and 7. It is forecast to be cloudy for most of the week with a chance of rain.
Areas of frost and possible chances of fog are to be expected in early mornings of the upcoming weeks.
