Work began on Monday, May 20, to upgrade a 1.7km stretch of the Great Western Highway at Mount Lambie.

The $1.6 million upgrade will remove the westbound overtaking lane at Mount Lambie to allow for the installation of a flexible centre barrier, widen the road shoulders and add another barrier on the northbound sidee, State member for Bathurst Paul Toole said.
Motorists should allow more travel time.

"We know how many people use the Great Western Highway to get from point A to point B, and we want to make sure all road users get home safe to their families," Mr Toole said.
"The project is being funded under the NSW Safer Roads Program after the area was identified as a potential hot spot for crashes."
Mr Toole said motorists should allow extra travel time, drive to the conditions, and follow the direction of traffic control and all signs, including reduced speed limits.
Work will be carried out on weekdays, between 7am and 6pm, until June 21, weather permitting.
