The Art of Lunch is a showcase for the extraordinary talents of our artists, musicians and chefs.
The event stimulates opportunities for creatives, as well as a wealth of new opportunities for local residents and visitors to the greater Blue Mountains region to appreciate their skills.
The first season of the Art of Lunch commences on Sunday, May 26 and will be held on the last Sunday of the month until October 2019.
The event will take place simultaneously at several restaurants and galleries within the region, with each venue offering a different theme, exhibition and performance.
Art of Lunch guests will enjoy a menu specially designed menu by a chef, a visual art exhibition opened by the artist and a 30 minute live music concert.
To enhance its own special ambiance, each venue has collaborated with the Art of Lunch to design a memorable experience with the first month beginning on Sunday, May 26.
Lithgow's Gang Gang Gallery will host an amazing in-gallery full sensory experience. Rebecca Wilson's paintings conjure Hill End's 'Mythmakers, Heroes and Villains'. The sound of Paddy O'Connor's Irish pipes, banjo and guitar will have you foot-tapping, all served up with a delectable selection of shared platters.
Echoes Restaurant's theme is Blue Mountains Bohemia. An immersive experience featuring the art of Norman Lindsay and an actress appearing as his "ModelWife", Rose, will include alternating performances by Erica Want and Catherine Lockley. Jazz giants James Greening and Kevin Hunt appear in concert, bringing some 1940's influences to the menu. Head chef, Saran Sasikumar, has created an exotic menu including a mysterious Magic Pudding.
The Avalon is a Katoomba landmark. There will be a lively Indigenous launch event with 'Big Dreams', an exhibition by leading Darug artist Shane Smithers, with music by songman Uncle Pete, and an exciting menu of uniquely Australian bush flavours, presented by hosts Dylan Brookes, David Cartwright and their culinary team;
At the other end of Katoomba Street, One88 will join the Art of Lunch program in June and their shows will feature an ever-changing panoply of Blue Mountains artists.
Wild Valley Art Park at Wentworth Falls features Livonne's 'From Fractured to Fairytale', the unique soundscapes of violinist and singer songwriter Maizy and a lavish vegetarian-vegan feast.
The Art of Lunch project has been supported by the Federal Government's Building Our Future fund.
