Wednesday Socials had 36 players and resulted in a steamrolling victory for Stan Campbell and Col Wotton over Bill Anderson and Tim Breen (16+20). Leading from the first end, the Campbell-Wotton duo never took the foot off the pedal and went on to win handsomely. Runners-up were Athol Roach and Michael Wholohan who defeated Darryl Wright and Angus MacKinnon 12+11.
Thursday Twilites saw 37 starters ever though the event was held outside daylight savings, although the games were reduced to 10 ends due to darkness.
Jake McAndrew and Dennis Weekes were the winners with a score of 7+4. They won the last seven ends from Rob Gallaher and Scott Vander Draay to take out the prizemoney. Runners-up were Mick Hughes, Barry Achurch and Lionel Johnston who beat Peter Kearney's team 6+9.
Friday mixed bowls played 21 ends of triples and pairs. Winners were Daphne Lloyd, Ann Anderson and Les Barnes, who were able to defeat Tania Banasiak, Lyn Bulkeley and Warren Kennedy 13+12. Runners-up were P Rivett, Bev Newcombe and Fay King who had a 12+6 win over Col Wotton's team of S Torben and Col Quince.
Saturday Socials had 24 starters, accompanied by three games of Minor Singles Championships. Social winners were Ian Townsend, Col Wotton and Bruce Gibbons with a runaway victory 13+27 over Ian Birk, Athol Roach and Barry Achurch. Peter Kearney had to settle for runner-up again with his team of Greg Hilliard and Lionel Johnston proving too good for John Perry, Darryl Wright and Paul Crane, but could only muster an advantage of 13+10.
Sunday Socials: Mick Wholohan and Sheila Jordan combined to win the prizemoney from Pam Johnson and Cheryl Wotton. Winning the first five ends was a good start and they finally took the match 12+10. Ian Birk, Col Wotton and Daphne Lloyd were runners-up.
Minor singles championships
Richie Bilby played Richard Forbes in a game that saw Bilby skip away to a handy lead after eight ends (10-3). Forbes conceded eight multiples in the following 12 ends to see Bilby improve his lead to 24-12. Forbes was able to pull back the lead to be trailing 26-23 after 29 ends but couldn't hold Bilby out, who finally won 32-23. Rick Slaven v Angus MacKinnon: MacKinnon led18-17 after 20 ends. Slaven got to the lead through ends 31-34 to look like a winner at 29-25, but MacKinnon managed two multiples to draw level at 30 all. The deciding end was won by MacKinnon, a great match going right down to the wire.
Michael Hughes was matched up against Michael Wholohan, which promised a close and interesting game due to the improvement of these players. Hughes was the heavy scorer over the first 20 ends, leading 22-15, and winning 14 ends. Wholohan went down 33-20 in 29 ends.
