The Wolves were confident heading into the start of a new season especially with the return of Jono Van Veen, according to premier league coach Graeme Osborne.
Osborne said Van Veen had been training with the Workies in the lead up to the season and would be a massive bonus to the club, helping the boys to their goal of placing a top three spot.
Despite Van Veen's comeback, the Wolves would kick off the season without senior player Cody Godden, due to a broken hand.
Coach Osborne said Godden was an instrumental player on the field and it was unfortunate having him sit out.
Godden said it would be hard to watch his team from the sidelines, but said he felt a confident a good season was on the cards.

"I broke my hand at training one night so I've managed to miss out on country championships with the Western Rams and now I'm missing the start with the Wolves boys.
"But, having Jono back brings experience to the side and he should run the boys around the park pretty well, and he's looking to play in the halves, so I think we'll go pretty well," he said.
Godden said the team had shaped up quite well and, despite going down to the Orange Cyms 20-8 in the Bathurst knockout on April 6, the team looked good for round one.
"They lost their way a bit in the knockout but it was a chance to have a run before we kick off this weekend, our ultimate goal for this season is to get to the semis," he said.
Godden also said key players to look out for this season, apart from Jono Van Veen was Greg Alderson, Corey Willmott and Astin Nunan.
