The Lithgow Centennial Coal Golf Championships have hit the halfway mark and although the main focus is on the 72 hole champions in each grade, there are also four 18 hole single events played within the four days.

Centennial Coal have again sponsored the championships and the club is grateful for their long term support.
On Saturday, conditions were extremely tough following the overnight storms with the ball competition going right out to 74 nett.
The B grade winner Blake Bender who is new to competition golf did not have any problems with the conditions and turned in the best nett score of the day with a tremendous 67 nett.
Runner-up in B grade was Frank Mantle on 69 nett with Mantle also carding the best scratch score with 79.
In A grade, the winner of both the scratch and nett score was Andrew Burton with 71 nett and 70 scratch on a countback.
Runner-up was Bill Oldfield on 72 nett.
In C grade, Robbie "Darky" Millar again showed what a force he is in this grade taking the winning voucher with 72 nett and also the best scratch score with 91.
Gary Marshall was runner up on 74 ocb.
Nearest the pin winners were Michael Bennett, Frank Mantle, Justin Nelson, Brendan Roach and Max McCann.
Day 2:
On the Sunday, Steve Hall put himself back in the picture winning A grade with a 68 nett counting out runner up Andrewwith 101. Burton. Bill Oldfield shot a six under par 66 for the best scratch score.
In B grade, Greg Jackson was best with 68 nett with the runner up being Ben Oldfield on 69 nett. Jackson also had the best scratch score with 79.
C grade saw Alex Dengate on 73 nett with Tom Jennings runner up on 78 nett. Best scratch score was Paul Bailey on 101.
Nearest the pins went to Max Nightingale, Frank Mantle, Damien Marjoram, A Hicks and Des Roots.
Balls went out to those with 72 nett and better.
The final two rounds of the Centennial Coal championships will be played this weekend.
