Harmony Day allows people to celebrate Australia's cultural diversity and is about the inclusiveness, respect and belonging of all Australians, regardless of cultural or linguistic background.
It also coincides with the United Nations' International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination.
St Patrick's School Lithgow celebrated the day along with World Down Syndrome Day in which students came to school wearing crazy socks. They also attended a school assembly where they sang 'This is me' in front of parents and teachers.
Cooerwull Public School celebrated with a range of activities throughout the day, with all students participating in a 'wear orange mufti day'.
The Scots All Saints College Lithgow also celebrated Harmony Day with a multicultural lunch with parents and friends. All students were asked to bring a dish in to share in tradition and culture through food.
