In what is an all too frequent call out for Rural Fire Service crews, an abandoned car had to be doused in Newnes State Forest early on Sunday morning, February 10.
The call came about 1.45am, when a passerby spotted the glow of something burning on Glowworm Tunnel Road and called emergency services.
The crew from South Bowenfels RFS found the car well alight, with no one in the vicinity.
The fire was put out within an hour.
South Bowenfels RFS captain Scott Renshaw said the call to abandoned cars burning was quite common.
The brigade is always on the lookout for new members. If you are interested in becoming part of the crew, members train on the first Sunday of every month at 9am.
