From lawn mowers to wheely bins there was something for everyone.
Portland resident James Barnes helped his son, also named James put together one of the heaviest billy karts on the track.
This was the Barnes’ family second time at the Rydal billy karts and they were inspired in 2018 to create a new billy kart for the 2019 festivities.
“We collected items from the tip including two bikes, a removalist’s trolley and a wheelie bin,” he said.
Mr Barnes said they cut the bikes in half and welded them together and added the wheelie bin in the middle.

“We had to test them out and we found we needed new wheels and then we tried the brakes and needed new brakes so it has been a process,” he said.
This particular billy kart also has an extra seat in the front which allows the kids to just enjoy the ride.
“That was the kids idea, they saw it in the movie ‘Little Rascals’,” he said.
All up it took three to four days to create the billy kart, according to Mr Barnes.
Young James was very excited to get racing at Rydal, saying it was his favourite part of Australia Day.
“The name of our kart is Speedy Rainbow,” he said.
