The Rydal AH&P Society would like to invite everyone to come along to this years’ show with gates open from 6.00am until 7.00pm on Saturday, February 2.
“The Rydal Show is a great event which brings the district community together and it helps to showcase the talents of the local community and in tough times gives people a chance to get away from their problems even if it is just for the day,” Rydal AH&P Society secretary Racheal Young said.
Ms Young also said the community had some very talented people and it was nice for them to be able to showcase it with the Rydal Show.
“It is great that the wider community come to the show and support the exhibitors. We live in a wonderful community and the show gives us all the chance to show our support for one another,” she said.
There will be lots to see and do at this years’ show including art and photography, schoolwork, needlework and handicrafts, cooking, horticulture , fruit and vegetables and wool.
Also on show will be dogs of all kinds, cattle, sheep, goats and horses.

There will be the popular log snigging competition for the heavier horses and for riders under the age of 12 who can’t compete in the main ring horse show events can try their luck in the Topsy Turvey ring.
The yard dogs, a crowd favourite will also be on show along with wood chopping.
There will be plenty of other activities for the family including rides, live entertainment and food stalls.
Miss Rydal Showgirl will be announced at 3.30pm and Country music singer Dean Taylor will entertain the crowds into the afternoon.
The bar will be open until 7.00pm.
The show office will be open on Thursday January 31 from 4pm to 8pm and Friday , February 1 from 7 to 10.30am to take entries. All entries need to be in by 10.30am Friday.
Entries can be left at the Portland Chemist or Kables Auto electrics until 4pm on Thursday. Entries can also be emailed or phoned in until 8pm Thursday.
Entry is $10 per adult and $2 for a child under 16.
A family of two adults and two children will set you back $20 and pensioners can get in for $5.00.
“This last 12 months have been tough, given the severity of the drought and we would ask the general public to come to our show to support those in our community who are doing it tough.
“We are looking forward to a fantastic day and we hope to see lots of people there to enjoy our efforts,” Ms Young said.
