Lithgow champion golfer Andrew Burton went into Sunday’s Lithgow Open as one of the players to beat after winning the Oberon and Portland Opens in consecutive weeks and show why he was a hot favourite by winning the hat trick.

He headed well over 140 local and visiting golfers to take out the coveted event.
He has now taken out the two major events within the club having won the club championship and the Lithgow Open.
Burton played near faultless golf to come in with a three under par 69.
“Before I hit off was was concerned that the Open would be won by a Lithgow golfer.
“In the past couple of years the trophy has been one by visiting golfers.
“It was great to take out the trophy and to see the majority of events won by locals.”
He paid tribute to Westfund who have been valued sponsors over the past years and also to all those who worked tirelessly to make the Open the success it was.
Runner up to Burton was Bill Oldfield on 71.
The A grade handicap winner was Paul Stewart who shot his best ever round thanks to a hot putter. He returned a superb 62 nett after carding 76 off the stick.
Runner up was Orange visitor Rod Jones on 65 nett.

B grade scratch winner was Ryan Miller on 83 who carried on his good form from last week.
Runner up was visitor Harold Schroeder on 84.
Brendan Van Veen played well to win the B grade handicap with an impressive 63 nett. Runner up was young Tallon Egan on 65 nett.
Veterans scratch winner went to Bill Oldfield while the handicap winner was Monty Van Veen.
Junior scratch winner went to promising youngster Ben Oldfield with 90 with Tallan Egan taking out the handicap section on 65 nett.
Both juniors have promising careers and the club has big expectations for both of them as they get older.
The teams scratch event was won by John Osborn, Andrew Burton, Mark Hale and Andrew Best.
The teams handicap winners were Kyle, Brock and Tallan Egan and Damien Marjoram.
Longest drive in A grade went to Harry Bender and Ian Fitzgerald in B.
Nearest to the pin awards went to Dave Thompson, Paul Stewart, Max McCann, Justin Nelson and Ben Oldfield.
Balls went out to those with 70 nett on a countback and better.
