Josh Amos (83) and Richard Sharp (56) led the batting line up to a total of 215.
Kev Horner did his best to stop the march, taking three wickets including Amos’. Steve Cronin took two wickets and Jon Cronin claimed one.
In reply, Lithgow Hotel could not get much steam up after losing opening batsman Brock Barry for 17. Brandon Horner, coming in at six, top-scored on 29.
It was Hornet Todd Walsh doing the damage. He demolished the top order, taking batsmen two through to five out for a combined six runs and finishing with 4-18.
Fellow bowler Anthony Brown took two, while Josh Amos, Aaron Manton and David Wheeler all claimed one wicket.
Valley 2 v Portland 1
Valley 2 was too strong for Portland on Saturday, November 17, chasing down the total set with the loss of just one wicket.
Stephen Bender top-scored for Portland (32) and the total grew with assistance from Brady McCann (12) and Wayne McCann (15). But with three batsmen falling for no score, the team found itself all out for 98.
Dave Hartley was the best of Valley’s bowlers, taking 3-25. Bayden Charlton, Mick Inzitari and Riley Bell each took 2 while Jarod Inzitari finished with one.
Valley’s Steve Moore made quick work of the run chase, smashing seven boundaries on his way to 64*. Graeme Bell was there at the finish on 27*, while Jared Inzitari was the only wicket to fall (5) as the team made its way to 1-102.
The single wicket was picked up by Portland bowler Joel Cameron.
Hartley v Hampton
Hampton set an unbeaten 137 in their match against Hartley.
After an extremely slow start in which the opening four wickets fell for two runs, Rob Arnott came to the rescue with a very timely half century. He was bowled by Darren Duncan for 51.
The tail held firm, with Matt Palmer’s 22 and Mohammed Nawaz’s 19 contributing to the final score.
At the bowling end, Warren Stevens, Zach Jones and Duncan all fired, with three wickets each. Josh Blanchard also claimed a scalp.

History repeated itself as Hartley’s openers fell to pieces, losing the first four wickets for two ducks and a total of 6.
Jacob Gillespie got a bit of momentum happening, making a quick fire 20 off four balls before being dismissed. Coming in at number eight, Zach Jones dug in for 41 but the team's run chase came to a halt, all out for 110.
The four Hampton bowlers shared in the joy: Saqlaiz Qasim (3-240); Nawaz (3-27); Matt Palmer (2-23); and Rob Gracey (2-26).
La Salle 2 v Valley 1
Led by 54 off the bat of opener Chris Isley, La Salle Hornets set a total of 151, which proved too much for Valley. Mark Bennett contributed to the total with 27.
At the bowling end, Sam Johnson and I Wren took two each. Nick Miller, Blake Goldspink and Hayden Wren each took one.
In reply, Ben Sheehan (37) and Hayden Wren (41) top-scored for Valley, leading the team to a total of 115, well short of their target.
The wickets went to Chris Isley (3-30), Mark Bennett (2-25) and Kyle Coombs (1-17).
Portland 2 v Lithgow Hotel 2
The ‘Housos’ finished on top in their encounter with Portland on Saturday.
Hotel put together a total of 104, with top scores from Jason Murray (22) and Shannon Clarke (21).
Blake Todd was in good form with the ball for Portland 2, taking four wickets. He was well assisted by Chris Hann (3-29), and Brayden McCann, Peter Bourke and Troy Chalmers, who all took one.
Despite a mid-order fight from Peter Bourke (42) and Nathan Chalmers (15), Portland was not able to chase down Housos’ score.
Wickets went to Housos’ Jason Murray (3-29), Steve Sellers (2-29) and S Hail (2-0).
Duck pond
Portland 1’s Shane Doohan found himself in the duck pond, caught off the bowling of Valley 2's Dave Hartley. He was joined by teammates Luke Barnes and Jake Piggot.
Hampton’s number two and three in the batting order were out for no score on Saturday – Greg Kitchener and Alan George. In the same game, number one and three batsmen for Hartley joined the crew – Warren Stevens and Josh Blanchard. Tail-ender Ben Blanchard was also bowled for a duck.
Unlucky Paul Curran from La Salle Hornet 2 was run out for a quacker against Valley 1. He was joined by Valley 1’s Sam Johnson and D Vought in the pond.
Lithgow Hotel opener Dan Hine was bowled for zero by Brayden McCann.
