MacKillop Family Services is hoping to find carers for Peter* (not his real name), a smart and kind boy who enjoys going to school and making friends. It is hoped Peter will be restored to his Mum next year, so carers will need to work with MacKillop to help make this happen. Peter ideally needs carers who have no other children in the home.
Peter experienced a traumatic early childhood so he needs a home with carers who can provide structure, predictability and routine. Peter responds very well to nurture, routine and consistency.
“We are seeking members of the community who are patient and kind, able to provide, and have space in their home and hearts to care for a young person, even for the short-term as we work towards restoration,” Jade Carey, NSW carer recruitment development manager NSW said.
“We are keen for anyone with an interest to come forward as we urgently need foster carers with the time and energy to devote to a young person.”
Foster carers can make a real difference to vulnerable children by providing stability, support and care.
They provide basic necessities such as shelter and food but much more importantly, they support and nurture a child’s emotional needs.
To support them in their incredibly important role, MacKillop provides foster carers with training, regular respite, access to therapeutic specialists and financial support.
