Senior Constable Steven Day is a finalist in the Metropolitan Field Operations Police Officer of the Year Award.
Thirty-three NSW Police officers have been announced as finalists for the awards with the winners announced at a special dinner at the Hyatt Regency, Sydney.
Snr Const Day was named the 2017 Blue Mountains Police Officer of the Year at an awards ceremony organised by the combined Rotary clubs of Blue Mountains at Leonay on April 10 this year.
He won the award from eight other nominations – each with outstanding achievements.
A 22-year Police Rescue squad veteran, Snr Const Day was directly involved in 123 rescue jobs in 2017 – everything from car accidents to injured bushwalkers and lost tourists.
A mentor to junior officers, Snr Constable Day is also charged with the welfare of rescue squad staff and is highly respected by all police colleagues.
