The scholarship was awarded last week from applicants in Year 12 at Lithgow High School and La Salle Academy.
The $12,000 Lithgow Aged Care scholarship is a substantial contribution towards a nursing degree through Charles Sturt University and Emilia, from Lithgow High School, will start her studies in 2019.
The Board of Lithgow Aged Care adopted a strategy in 2017 to encourage the best local students to enter into nursing and after their studies are completed to employ their skills in Residential Aged Care.
Emilia said she was thrilled and honoured to have been chosen.

She joins 2017 recipient Grace Horton who is already achieving great results at CSU. Both students will do part time work at LAC while they are studying. Care manager, Lisa Thompson, said that the practical work experience gained by the students is of great value to the students and the residents.
Chairperson, Olwyn King, said this week that the Board was thrilled with this initiative.
“We recognise that need to encourage our young students with their studies so that they will return to employment in Lithgow,” she said.
“We are all winners with this scheme.”
