This year it will be holding a birthday party to celebrate HIPPY’s 20th year in Australia.
The HIPPY celebration starts at 12.30pm at Fatima Hall on the Great Western Highway.
The celebration will commemorate the achievements and recognise the efforts of all involved in the program; from coordinators and home tutors, to the parents, carers and children.
HIPPY Coordinator Ashlea Werner says HIPPY Bowenfels is a very active group in the Lithgow region.
“We currently have 60 enrolled families actively participating on the program,” Ms Werner said.
“The HIPPY celebration is an action packed afternoon of novelty events and activities for families to participate in.”
“The HIPPY program encourages a love of learning by using a number of strategies that make the most of everywhere learning without having purely a focus on traditional education practices.
“It builds self-esteem and confidence in parents and carers to be involved and enjoy their child's development and ongoing education, and we know it improves the enjoyment and achievement at school of our participating children.
