Prolific hillclimb champion David Tutton,who was club president for 15 years from 2000 to 2014, racked up over 1600 voluntary hours work at the club’s Yvonne Martyn Memorial Motorsport Park during the past ten years.

Dave spent many hours tree felling along the access road, sucker bashing and security fence construction.

The second recipient of life membership was 76-year-old James Morgan for his tireless and amazing 1900 hours of voluntary work not only at the motorsport park but also the design and manufacture of a fire-fighting trailer.

Jim also spent many hours building the security fence, off siding for Dave’s skilful chainsaw use tree felling and many other tasks around the motorsport park during his ten year stint.

The Lithgow District Car Club purchased the 18.2ha site near Mt Piper Power Station in Portland in September 2008 and have transformed the old quarry into a flat dedicated area for motorkhana, khanacross and a driver training area for children from 12 years upwards to learn car skills.

With many thanks to the NSW State Government, Energy Australia, Lithgow City Council, Henry Plant Hire, Coates Hire Wallerawang, Centennial Coal, Rural and Civil Earthworks and the Confederation of Australian Motor Sport the motorsport park has full security perimeter fencing, clubrooms/lecture rooms, three sets of toilets serviced by running water and a septic tank system. 

Dave and Jim join a list of life members including the late Claude Kissell in 1955, the late Yvonne Martyn in 1972,David Bracey in 1976, Les Taylor in 1988, the late John Merrick 1992, Steve Evans, Liz and Bob Roberts in 1993 and super solicitor Beach Thomas in 1998.
