After two good shots on the par five first, Harry ‘H Bomb’ Bender played the perfect chip from 15m out to hole out for a two under par eagle.
Bender amassed a score of 40 points which could have been even better considering he went out of bounds on the third hole.

His score in the windy conditions was good enough to take out A grade with the runner up voucher going to Max Nightingale on 39 points.
Best scratch score in A grade went to Steve Hall with a two under par 70.
B grade was won by Paul Bosman with the good score of 39 points while the runner up title went to Jeff Geddes on 37. Best scratch score was Garry Keen with 83 on a countback.
Brad Preston was best in C grade with 36 points and he also returned the best scratch score with 98 with the rest of the C graders struggling in the wind. Runner-up was former B grader John ‘Digger’ Murnane with 31 points.
Nearest the pins went to Kevin Hanrahan, Geoff Thompson, Rod Clarke, Travis Cameron and Gary Keen.
The ball competition went out to those with 34 points and better.
Wednesday comp:
Winner: Owen Younger 28 ocb.
Runner up: Tom Jennings 28 ocb.
Third: Rob Peachman 28.
Balls went out to 23 points.
Friday comp:
Winner: Steve McCann (Portland) 23 points.
Golfers are reminded to get their teams organised for the four person VW Scramble ambrose to be held next month on Sunday, October 14.
