More than 250 cannabis plants were seized by police at a Portland property on Wednesday, August 22, along with 24kg of the drug.

Police executed a warrant at a Vale Street property on Wednesday morning, where officers found a large scale cannabis operation in place.
Chifley Police District Inspector Gerard Powell said the operation was the result of investigations by Lithgow detectives.
“The scene was examined and dismantled, and 253 cannabis plants were seized,” he said.
A 36-year-old Sydney man was arrested at the Portland property.

A second man, a 35-year-old, was arrested in Lidsdale shortly afterwards, while a 31-year-old woman was arrested in Lithgow. Both were from Sydney. They were later released without charge.
Investigations continued, with a search also executed at a property on Havana Street, Bathurst.
As a result of Wednesday’s operation, 253 cannabis plants and 24kg of cannabis which had already been cut were seized at Portland.
The 36-year-old man arrested in Portland was charged with cultivating a prohibited plant by indoor enhancement at a large commercial quantity and supplying a prohibited drug.
He was refused bail to face Lithgow Local Court on Thursday, August 23.
