Workmen’s Club Rovers turned out in their heritage shirts recently, sponsored by LJ Hooker Lithgow and Lithgow Tyre Service, celebrating 70 years of Rovers playing in the Lithgow competition.

Rovers formed in 1948, starting with a bang and winning the competition in their first year, also in 1949 and again in 66.
Scots formed in 1950 and were winners in 1956, 57 and 58. Scots seeking financial sponsorship then became known as Workmen’s Club in 1959 and won that year and again in 1962.
In 1970 Workmen’s Club combined with Rovers to become Workmen’s Club Rovers as they are still registered today. They then went on to win another 15 A-Grade Premierships.
The 70 Year Reunion of Workmen’s Club Rovers and Scots will be held on the October long weekend, starting with a barbecue and a friendly game on Saturday, September 29 at the Lithgow Hockey Centre at 12pm.
Then on Sunday, September 30 we will be holding the Official Reunion function at the Lithgow Workmen’s Club in the Showroom commencing at 12.30pm. The cost of the Sunday function is $10 per head. All players, past and present, and partners are welcome to attend both days.
