They put on a nail-biting show for the Lithgow home crowd, getting off to a quick lead over competition leaders the Cowra Magpies and maintaining it through to half time.
Early tries went to Nick Miller and Keelan Bresac.
The breakthrough came early, just two minutes after the opening whistle, with the Workies capitalising on a fumble from the Magpies defence metres from their own try line.
The follow up try came shortly afterwards from the opposite end of the field, with Keelan Bresac making a huge individual run from the Magpies end of the field to take the Workies’ second try.

The Cowra attack kicked in, but the Workies held them off, extending their lead to 16-10 heading into half time.
The crowd that had turned out for the special Nathan Doggett fundraising event at Tony Luchetti Oval was not disappointed in the back and forward battle that followed in the second.
The Magpies, favourites as the Group 10 premier league minor premiers, finally took the game 34-28.
