The big chop took place at a memorial morning tea Wallerawang Public School held for Simon Williams and Rebecca Karini on Thursday, August 2.
The 37cm of Keeley’s hair will be donated to Variety, the Children’s Charity to be made into wigs for children undergoing chemotherapy.
Keeley and her family have also been raising funds for the Simon Williams Memorial Charity. So far they have raised $4109.50.
“We have raised just over $4000 and we still have more coming so it is great how people have gotten behind this,” Keeley’s mum Jamie said.
Students gathered around to listen to the song ‘Little Angels’ as hairdresser Rachel Green cut Keeley’s hair.
To help raise extra funds, Mrs Collins baked thank-you biscuits for students to buy, with all money going to the charity.
“I would like to thank everyone for their support and kind donations, I would also really like to thank the school for letting me do this here on such a special day to remember Simon and Rebecca,” Keeley said.
Keeley then presented Simon’s mum, Renee Bradford with a cheque for $4109.50 to go to the Simon Williams Memorial charity.
“In the last few weeks I have been fundraising to support a local charity that is close to all of our hearts and I just want to say thank you for everything you do,” she said.
