Ashton plays in goal for his home team the Gunners and captained the Lithgow U13 side that claimed the joint State Age Championships title recently.
The Lithgow High School Year 7 student has been playing in goal for seven years and was thrilled to have his first representative hit-out.
“I just like playing generally,” Ashton said.
U13s representative coach Heath Luck said Ashton had been outstanding in his State Age Champs appearance.
“He is a real up-and-coming goalkeeper, he is exceptionally good at his trade,” Luck said.
“His overall consistency is very good, which is very important when you’re the last line of defence.”
Ashton’s selection came on the back of his very fine performance at the Under 13’s championships, which were held at Wagga from July 13-15. The Lithgow Hockey community was very proud of Ashton and his selection.
