After working on the vitrobond ply panels for over a year, Ms Topaz was excited to be finally installing them.
“It’s really exciting because I have been moving these 48 pieces around my house,” she said.
The artwork consists of mixed medium acrylic sheets that have been placed in specific ways to show different emotion within individuals.
“This artwork is representative of the different seasons and my relationship with my three girls,” Ms Topaz said.
All of the materials for Ms Topaz’s artwork were donated to her by Bunnings and the Lithgow Tin Shed.
“All the sheeting was donated and the Lithgow Tin Shed cut the shapes that I designed because I was struggling with that element,” she said.
“Lithgow Bunnings donated the paint to work with and so I donated the final creation to the laneways project.”
Ms Topaz said she had done various artistic projects in Lithgow and heard of the Tidy Towns laneways project and thought to approach them with an artistic idea.
“I came to them with this specific idea and they really liked it,” she said.
Ms Topaz said she is excited for the community to finally be able to view her work.
“It’s really, really exciting to get my work up and to finally see it on the wall,” she said.
The art installation is part of the Lithgow Tidy Towns goal to revitalise the lane ways in Main Street.
“The artwork will have around 48 pieces going up, and they are geometric shapes that remind me of leaves falling off trees,” Tidy Towns secretary Kathleen Compton said.
“We just want to make this space somewhere that people can visit and enjoy.”
Ms Compton said the group is trying to do the project over a few years so they can decorate all of the laneways on Main Street.
“We are trying to revitalise the laneways with all different art, whether its quirky or tells a personal story, a story about the site or the artist and people,” she said.
