Lithgow District Netball Association’s under 12s team finished seventh at the State Age Championships in Sydney from July 7-9.

The team took part in 17 games over the three days of competition against opponents drawn from right across the state.
Game one was against Kurri Kurri where the girls had a great start to the carnival as they played well as a team.
Excellent shooting and passing was had in the circle by Ella Houlison and Bella Inzitari.
At half time the girls were up 14-5 and they managed to keep up the momentum in the second half with great work in the centre with good defence and helping out by Mackatlyn Hepple.
They managed a good win at full time, 21-10.
Game two was against Lower Clarence where the girls had another strong start with excellent work by Chloe Healey in centre with great passing and defending.
Ellie Pender pulled off some great intercepting.
The game was low scoring, with Lithgow being up 8-3 at half time and then winning 15-5 at full time.
Lithgow played against Inverell for game three and started off slow but the girls managed to get into a rhythm with great shooting by Ella Mickelsson.
At half time the girls were up 5-2.
In the back half of the match the Lithgow girls produced tight defence in the centre, especially Halle Gillespie and Tayah Crook.
Lithgow won by a big margin, ending at full time 16 - 4.
In game four Lithgow played against a strong Mudgee team, with all girls putting in a strong effort and playing their best.
Being up by seven at half time, Lithgow managed to come away with a 2 point win, 14-12.
In game five, the girls played a very strong Macleay.

Taylor Bennett played great in the centre and Ella Mickelsson had great pressure on her player which resulted in being up 10-4 at half time.
But the girls were starting to feel it after a long day and put up a valiant effort against a rough side going down 20-6.
In the final game against Armidale, Ellie Pender played excellently by reading the play very well and intercepting.
The girls were up 14-1 at half time before having a swap of position and putting Chelsea Rattenbury in goal keeper who did a fantastic job of rebounding and defending.
Strong defence was had by all girls, which gave them the win 19-7.
Coach of the Under 12’s team Leanne Houlison said the state competition would be a learning experience.
“Some of the girls in the team are very new to the game,” she said.
“They have gone quite well for how long they have been playing.”
This is the first year the Under 12’s players have contested the State Age.
