The Men’s Shed have produced a lovely array of wooden toys (and this year it includes skipping ropes and French knitting reels for girls).
Many enthusiastic workers and shoppers are hard at work preparing items for shoe boxes incorporating the 6 Somethings: School, Hygiene, To Wear, Special, To Play with and To Love.
The aim is to share happiness and God’s love with needy children in the South Pacific region.
The next workshop and packing day is on Thursday, July 12 (during the school holidays) from 10.30am on at Lithgow Baptist Church, at the corner of Lee Street and the Great Western Highway.
As $10 per box is needed to send the boxes to where they are needed, an Operation Christmas Child fundraiser Christmas in July concert will be held on Saturday, July 21 at 2.30pm at the church.
The concert, titled Liberty, will feature Suzanne Carson, Debra Edgell, Kate Scott and Lindsey Foster with pianist Anna Smith and former Australian Opera Company soloist Leslie Andrew.
Admission is by donation. Afternoon tea is included.
