Bathurst MP Paul Toole said the new $1.6 million facility would significantly enhance the education and training services provided at TAFE NSW Lithgow, with thousands of students to reap the benefits.
“This new building not only looks magnificent, it’s much more practical and user friendly,” Mr Toole said.
“The student hub is a one stop shop for students who can access a range of important services such as counselling, library services, Aboriginal student support, disability support services, course and career information, teaching support and advice and much more, all from the one location.”
Mr Toole thanked the staff and students of Lithgow TAFE, saying the hard work that went into building this facility was because of the importance of education.
“You are the future of our workforce and this modern facility was built for you and the future students that will come after,” he said.
Regional general manager of TAFE NSW western region Kate Baxter said that the shift in education towards a more collaborative effort was the focus of the upgrade.
I am most excited to see students be able to use a modern and contemporary facility because normally country students don’t get these type of services.

Ms Baxter said the community would benefit from these upgrades – you do not have to be a student to use the facilities.
“This will give potential students the opportunity to come and see what the TAFE has to offer and it allows them to look at their options and what is available to them,” she said.
“We spent a number of years planning and I am beyond pleased with the result.”
The building is now equipped with the latest state of the art technology, including multi functional, interactive and face to face learning spaces that allow students to access a range of quality online and blended courses available at TAFE NSW.
The student hub will be open to students and the public next Monday, June 25.
