“Desexing your cat is vital for their good health, to stop unwanted litters and to protect the environment but we understand that for people on low incomes, cost can be an issue,” Cat Protection CEO Kristina Vesk said.
“That is why Cat Protection is making a substantial investment to help cat owners who hold a valid health care card to have their cat or kitten desexed.
“We couldn’t do this without the support of the local vets who have generously discounted their fees to us for this program: Bowenfels Vet Clinic; Lithgow Vet Hospital; and Hartley Vet and Animal Centre,” Ms Vesk said.

Operation Cat Lithgow will run from Monday, May 28 to Thursday, June 28 but places are strictly limited.
Cat owners who hold a valid health care card are urged to book their place quickly by telephoning Cat Protection’s welfare office on 9519 7201 between 9am and 4pm, Monday to Friday. (Places in the Operation Cat program must be booked with Cat Protection, not the vet clinics).
Clients pay a fee of $40 per cat or kitten to Cat Protection, which will be all they need to pay to have their cat desexed, as well as vaccinated and microchipped.
“Whether your cat is three months or three years old, whether they are male or female, desexing benefits their health and wellbeing, and is good for the environment too,” Ms Vesk said.
Operation Cat Lithgow is a part of Cat Protection’s Good Neighbour Project, designed to promote responsible cat ownership.
