Going into the final round Wentworth Falls and Lithgow were on equal match points and equal individual points while Springwood was one match point behind. Springwood defeated Wentworth Falls three matches to two, which left the opening for Lithgow, which defeated Leura in a hard fought tussle 3-2 to snatch the trophy. It has been 10 years since Lithgow last won the BMDLGA Interclub Bowl and the players were delighted with their win.
The event is handicap match play and the Lithgow team consists of lower handicap players so consequently they had to give a massive 133 strokes over the five rounds of competition.
A great team effort from Sue Brooks who played all five matches, Lynne Ritchie (4), Olwyn King (5), Janice Cohen, Narelle Potts and Marie Hackett (3) and Di McGuire (1).
The Ladies are excited that their golfing numbers have been steadily improving over the past few months, great autumn weather may be contributing however the golf course desperately needs rain as does the surrounding countryside.
A fourball best ball stableford event was played with trophies donated by Carol Osborne and Robyn Houlison on Wednesday, May 2. The winners with a good score of 46 points were Margaret Café and Sue Brooks.
Last Saturday a single stableford was held with the winner being Narelle Potts with 36 points.
The Monthly Medals sponsored by Helloworld were contested on May 9. In conjunction with the medal event, the Veteran’s Country Championships and also the 4th round of the Golf NSW medals were played. In 1st division the winner was Judy Charman with 76 nett while in 2nd division Robyn Houlison who is a relatively newcomer to competition golf won with 73 nett.
