Gang Gang Gallery will host three musical groups from the Mitchell Conservatorium on Saturday, May 12, as well as four visual artists, who will be creating artworks live in response to the musicians’ performances.
Hagney’s Motown ensemble will be one of the groups playing at the event.
“I have never done this particular art and music cross over,” Ms Hagney said.
“It should be very exciting to see what the artists come up with.”
An improvisation group and string and wind ensemble will also take the stage.
Local artists Sean O’Keefe, David Newman-White, Jessie Leffley and Anna Carter will devise original works in response to the music.
After the concert, the visual artists will have until June 16 to complete their works, which will then be displayed as part of a second musical gathering at the gallery.
It will then be the musicians’ turn to improvise a performance in reply to the artworks.
“It’s lovely to see inspiration from music to art and then go back the other way,” Ms Hagney said.
LithGlow Conversations runs from 12.30pm-3.30pm on Saturday, May 12, at Gang Gang Gallery on Main Street, gold coin donation for entry.
The second part of the ‘Conversations’ series will take place at Gang Gang Gallery on Saturday, June 16 at 12.30pm.
Gang Gang Gallery will also host folk singer Christine Wheeler, performing on Sunday, May 13, at 4.30-6.30pm.
