The award, given by Tripadviser, is the highest honour the organisation can give and is based on reviews and opinions from millions of travellers.
Receiving this award puts Black Gold Motel in the top one percent of Australia for service, coming 11th out of 25 other hotels gunning for the award. These 25 hotels were shortlisted from a possible 4500 competing accommodation outlets.
Owner Linda Cluff said that this award, which recognised the venue as the top motel in Blue Mountains region, was such a wonderful achievement and they hoped to continue to provide quality service.
But don't expect Black Gold to rest on its laurels.
“Linda said she wished she could get in the top 10 but I think that is something that we can now work towards for next year,” Restaurants and Functions Supervisor Mel Besley said.
The motel was originally the Old Wallerawang School until it was purchased by Robert and Linda Cluff in 1994.
The workers at Black Gold Motel want to thank everyone for putting reviews on trip adviser and their clientele for staying with the motel.
