Bletchington Public School’s deputy principal Philippa Hughes has stepped into the breach while Lithgow Public continues the hunt for its new head.
Ms Hughes, who has taught at several Orange schools during her career, said she looked forward to the opportunity to work with the staff and students.

She was not a complete stranger to the school, having been invited to the school to see some of its innovative programs in action in 2017.
“I felt at home the moment I walked through the door,” Ms Hughes said.
“The staff and students have been very enthusiastic and welcoming. I always believed the sign of a good school is its happy people.”
A main focus for the term would be structuring a new student wellbeing program, which will focus on building resilience and combating bullying.
