Officers attached to the Bathurst Highway Patrol stopped the Hyundai sedan in Bentinck Street about 8.30pm.
During the traffic stop, a 25-year-old Bathurst man who was travelling as a passenger in the vehicle was found to be in possession of 33 grams of methamphetamine [“ice”] concealed in a pill bottle.
The drugs had an estimated street value of $16,500.
Officers carried out a search of the vehicle and found a number of items of antique jewellery, including one item engraved with a name and the date 1887.
Police also found a number of precious stones believed to be diamonds and sapphires, plus a large sum of cash.
The passenger was arrested and taken to Bathurst police station where he was charged with supplying a greater than indictable quantity of drugs and three counts of goods in custody suspected to have been stolen or unlawfully obtained.
He was refused bail to appear before Bathurst Local Court.
The driver of the vehicle, a 25-year-old Bathurst woman, was issued a court attendance notice for driving while unlicensed.
It was the third time she had been caught driving in just 24 hours.
