Australian Book Review announces its 40th Birthday Fellowship (worth $10,000). It seek proposals for four original review essays, commentaries, and/or interviews to be published during 2018. Essay prize
Entries are open for the 2018 ABR Calibre Essay Prize for original and unpublished non-fiction essays of any subject between 3000 to 6000 words, written in English. Entry fees are $15 for ABR subscribers or $25 for non-subscribers (the latter includes a free four-month subscription to ABR Online). Entries close January 15, 2018. December 11: At Smith's Alternative at 7pm, a double book launch of Owen Bullock's poetry collection Work and Play and the international poetry anthology Metamorphic edited by Nessa O'Mahony and Paul Munden. Free entry, no open mic.
