The fire services were called to a property on Scenic Hill in Clarence after 3pm on Thursday. The resident had been burning a pile of twigs and garden waste when surrounding land caught alight.
The blaze was extinguished by 4.30pm.
“As the weather was conducive, we also performed hazard reduction on the two hectare block and worked together to do asset protection around the house," Lithgow station officer Noel Ford said.
“It went really well. These types of incidents foster good relations between the two services.”
Mr Ford said the incident carried a warning for anyone planning to clear their land over the spring and summer period.
“The bush fire danger period has been extended from September 1 to March 31, so properties do need a permit to perform burn offs. Get in contact with your nearest Rural Fire Brigade station and they will inspect your property and issue you with a permit.”
The resident of the Scenic Hill property did have a permit for the pile burn.
