Two new maps have been developed by the Lithgow District Chamber of Commerce in partnership with Lithgow City Council and EnergyAustralia.
Chamber of commerce vice-president Mark Hoy said the inspiration for the pocket sized guides came after a range of local businesses mentioned that tourists were asking them what there was to do in Lithgow.
It’s an opportunity to get all businesses to talk about Lithgow and what a great place it is.

“It’s to stimulate the economy and to put Lithgow not just on the map but on a map,” Mr Hoy said.
Mr Hoy believed Lithgow was home to a host of attractions that had not yet seen their full tourist potential.
The maps showcase activities that will take from half a day to two days to complete.
When unfolded the guides are A4 and A3 in size. They display Lithgow and surrounding regions such as Jenolan Caves, the Capertee and the Wolgan valleys.
Mr Hoy said the tourism tools would work to build on the existing work of the Lithgow Visitor Information Centre.
“We’re going to place these maps in all the retail businesses, cafes, at the railway station, service stations, anywhere we think the people may be stopping,” he said.
”It’s an opportunity to get all businesses to talk about Lithgow and what a great place it is.
“Hopefully people will take these maps home and we might be able to bring them back to the area.”
The maps were completed with the help of a community grant from EnergyAustralia.
It was originally planned to print 5000 copies of each map however a local wholesale printer lent a helping hand by doubling the print run to 10,000 each free of charge.
Mr Hoy said the Chamber of Commerce had its eyes on making the maps even better for a second run some time in the future.
“There’s a lot of opportunity to improve on the maps. We want to get feedback from all of the businesses,” he said.
