The fresh connection involves Bunnings staff members taking some time out of their day to run arts and craft workshops with the participants at Uniting Care.
"[Bunnings] have reached out and we've formed a partnership and we're hoping it will be a lasting thing that will continue," Uniting Care Lithgow disability manager Nicole Griffiths said.
During a DIY workshop in April, clients were able to decorate their own clay pots and complete the package with some soil and plants.
The hardware business has also donated a number of garden beds to kick start a garden at Uniting Care.
The participants have been looking forward to each session with the Bunnings team.
"They're really, really enjoying it,” Ms Griffiths said.
“They're engaging well with the Bunnings staff... they're enjoying what they're taking home or what they're creating on the day.”
Ms Griffiths said programs like these work to improve the connection between Uniting Care’s clients and the wider community.
"To be able to work together and get our guys out doing more, we're a small community and we've got to work together,” she said.
"A big thank you to Bunnings and the team of staff that come up here and help and work with our guys and for all their generosity."
