I discovered the background of the very talented man behind the newly-formed Lithgow Choir, Rowen Fox. I know Rowen as a fun-filled, shy, low-key, unassuming man and a wonderful choir leader, so for anyone in the area who likes to sing and wishes to join a great choir, please take note.

Rowen is Musical Director of the Phoenix Choir; the Blue Mountains largest SATB choir, who regularly perform in Lithgow. Rowen is also an accomplished conductor and composer. To his credit he has written a full-length opera, Chang’E and the Moon, which premiered at the Sydney Conservatorium Music Workshop and was then performed last April at the Wentworth Falls School of Arts.
Rowen has composed and performed instrumental works, songs and song cycles, choral and stage works, plus incidental music. Rowen’s forte is composition/arranging and he has an amazing way of passing on his knowledge in a fun all-inclusive environment.
The choir meets Wednesday’s 7.30pm-9pm at LINC, Cnr of Railway Parade and Padley street (entry via Padley Street). $10 or $8 conc. (this covers fees, sheet music, refreshments and hall hire). Great fun, all welcome especially tenors and basses. For more information call Rowen on 0488 067 746.
