Children are being encouraged to take part in a great day of fishing organised as part of NSW Gone Fishing Day at Wallerawang, held on the shores of Lake Wallace, or if you prefer sitting on top of the water in a kayak.

The lake has been well prepared for the day of competition with the Wallerawang branch of the Central Acclimatisation Society in conjunction with the NSW Department of Primary Industries releasing 100 large rainbow trout in August.
The trout weighed up to 3.5 kilograms and were old brood stock put in ahead of the event on October 16.
Registration and further event details commences at 8am on site.
The comp is aimed for children but also includes all local anglers interested in fishing.
Registration will be $5 per entry or $15 for a family (two adults and three kids, or one adult and four kids). Kayaks are allowed in the event.
If you can get them up early the first 50 entries receive a free official DPI Brag mat.
Organisers, with all the help from their many sponsors, have a few non-fishing attractions to keep children entertained.
Bunnings Lithgow will be doing kids face painting on the day, an organised ice cream truck will keep the young (and old) happy, SportsPower Lithgow will have a stall there for fishing supplies with lucky door prizes on the day.
JR Richards and Sons is giving its support by supplying a skip bin to remove all the dead redfin taken out of the dam for disposal.
Wallerawang Public School will be cooking up a barbecue.
At registration you will be able to enter into three separate age prize groups: Kids under 0-16, Teens under 19, and grown-ups).
Grownups are eligible for prizes such as meal vouchers, Bunnings gift cards, Official Holden polo shirts, new rods, landing nets and lures.
For Kids there are fishing rods and tackle boxes, lures and landing nets.
Entrants will have to physically be there at the draw to claim lucky door prizes.
Trout and Bass are catch and release only.
When registering you will receive a special card which you will need to show a photo of the fish with the special rego card, you will also receive tickets to enter the lucky door prize pool.
After rego at 8am free fly casting clinics will be held at 9.30am, 11.00am and 1.30pm (approximate times).
At 3.30pm the winners will be decided at the weigh ins, with presentations at 4pm.
Redfin are to be bought back to base for counting.
There are some alluring prizes for an angler in the major raffle that anyone can enter (winners don’t have to present at draw).
Prizes include a fully-kitted fishing three-metre kayak, FJORD breathable chest waders with boots, 6wt Airflo pursuit fly rod complete setup and other cool stuff.
If you can manage to drag a big one in there plenty of awesome prizes for category winners.
The prizes include Longest Trout (Junior and Senior), Longest Bass (Junior and Senior), Most redfin landed 1st place and runner up (Junior and Senior) .
