April 28 2016, was the 65th wedding anniversary for the Reddings.
The couple were married by the Reverend Athol Brooks at the Methodist Church in Mort Street, Lithgow.
Shirley and George honeymooned in Dubbo, where they visited the zoo, and also travelled to Sydney where they enjoyed several shows.
They settled in Lithgow where they also raised their two children.
Today, they are also the proud grandparents of two grandchildren and great grandparents of seven great grandchildren.
George and Shirley opened their business Redding’s Motor Repairs in 1981 and worked hard to build it into the success it remains today.
Amazingly George is still working at the business after 35 years — and Shirley only retired in 2014!
The Reddings were featured in the Lithgow Mercury when they reached their 60th wedding anniversary, with the couple stating the secret to their longevity of staying together was “patience, understanding and a lot of love”. It seems that this combination truly was a winning one.
