La Salle Hornets were the minor premiers and showed why with a good win over Hampton to end their dream run.
It has been their opening batsmen who were getting Hampton home with some big scores, but unfortunately their first five batsmen could only manage 14 runs.
Rod Welsh (42), Tim White (26) and (17) helped Hampton to a total of all out for 115.
Youngsters Will Richardson (4-24 off 7.4 overs) and Brock Barry (3-20 off eight overs) bowled like veterans with Zac Flynn (2-10 off eight) and Kyle Sedger (1-16 off three overs) chipping in with wickets.
La Salle Hornets’ Ash Redding (42 not out) and captain Chris Bennett (58) have enjoyed a good year and have been rarely out of the runs.
The Stingers cruised to a win at 2-116.
The only wicket takers for Hampton were rising star Tan Singh (1-33 off five overs) and Tim White (1-36 off four overs).
Hampton have some good young talent and will be a force next season.
Their side consisted of Matt Gerard, Brett Campbell, Tan Singh, Rick Hoolihan, Shannon Johns, Rod Welsh, Zeb Farr, Greg Kitchener, Tim White, Matt McDonald and Kim Degoveric.
The win by the Stingers softened the blow of being beaten in the first grand final and they too have some good young players coming up through the ranks.
