Wayne’s World
THE angry tirade from Pipers Flat residents regarding claims of inadequate council action to deal with environmental issues from a poultry farm was again well aired at this week’s meeting when council determined to train its rangers up to more informed detection skills. This prompted resident Wayne Hollands to drop us a line: ‘Forget sniffer dogs. Specially trained Sniffer Rangers are about to hit the street. Council is to train them to identify what is and what is not a fowl stench. Perhaps their sniffing experience should be extended to council meetings’. Now that’s a bit strong but Wayne was again a most vocal critic at this week’s meeting.

So who owns it?
TALK about demarcation issues. When local businessman Ian Wilkinson phoned council to suggest a clean up of pine trees along Chifley Road near the loco Depot that came down in the freak October blizzard he was told it was a Roads and Maritime Services responsibility. So Ian dutifully phoned RMS only to be told ‘Sorry mate, that’s a Lithgow Council problem.’ It’s clearly a case of No Man’s Land meets The Buckpasser. —
